Welcome to The Chemistry of Light, a photography and art direction studio founded by Raúl Ortiz de Lejarazu Machin.
Raúl is a Spanish freelance photographer based in Australia and working internationally on a range of commission and personal projects.
Some of his work has been featured in Vogue Australia and his imaginative photo series Multiverse was exhibited at the prestigious Head On Photo Festival. He was featured as ‘one of 8 photographers in Australia that you need to know’ by the leading creative platform Shutterstock.
He has created content for a wide range of international and local clients such as Camp Quality, OzHarvest, Visit NSW, Philips, Microsoft, Nespresso, and Dyson.
His work is characterized by a cinematic aesthetic and a focus on visual storytelling, reflecting his love for film and a background in advertising, where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Advertising and Design and a Diploma in Photo Imaging.
Raúl brings together his experience in art direction, photography, and design to create images that are compelling and unique, captured in his signature minimalistic style. With a fresh take on composition and lighting, Raúl’s approach to photography is aimed at both simplicity and originality.
The Chemistry of Light is born with the idea of creating new and exciting content and is a homage to his grandmother, who was one of the first women in his hometown to become a chemistry lecturer at the University. She loved science and like him, she had a passion for learning and always wanted to discover new things.
